How recycling works

A recycler returns a share of each item's value: 40% at Outpost and Bandit Camp, 50% at monuments, 60% once the Power Plant powers them and 75% at the red recycler in the Power Plant. These rates come from the August 2026 Power Trip update.

Scrap comes from a fixed value per item, not from the scrap used to craft it. Gears cost 100 scrap to craft but recycle for 20 at 100%.

Frequently asked questions

Which recycler gives the most scrap?

The red recycler in the Power Plant returns 75%. Monument recyclers give 50%, or 60% while the Power Plant powers them, and the safe zone recyclers at Outpost and Bandit Camp give 40%.

Should I recycle gears and springs?

Only if you have no use for them. Gears and springs are needed for many crafts and cost far more scrap to make than they return.

What is the best item to recycle for scrap?

Per item, Rifle Bodies return the most scrap (50 at 100%), followed by Tech Trash and Electric Fuses (40 each).
